State Parks

There are 5 state parks located near Erie Pennsylvania.

  1. Erie Bluffs State Park:
    • Erie Bluffs is the newest Pennsylvania State Park. It has 540 acres of Lake Erie shoreline. It is the largest undeveloped area of Lake Erie shoreline remaining in PA. This park has no visitor facilities as of yet. The park was named be Governor Edward G. Rendell in 2004.
  2. Presque Isle:
    • Presque Isle State park has the only surf beach in Pennsylvania and has some of the best bird watching in the State. There are 3,200 sandy acres to explore at Presque Isle Park. Becuase of the shelter that Presque Isle gives Presque Bay Erie has one of the best harbors in US. The Bay brings in 1000's of boaters for both business and pleasure. If animals are your thing Presque Isle has many of Pennsylvania rare specis just waiting for you to enjoy. It is impotant to show respect for the local wildlife, many of them are endangered. Presque Isle is also a family vacation spot. About four million visitors come to enjoy the beautiful coastline and many recreational activities, including swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, bicycling and in-line skating.
  3. Pymatuning:
    • Pymatuning State Park is biggest state park in Pennsylvania, it has over 21,000 acres to enjoy. If you are a camper then this is the place for you, Pymatuning State Park has more campsites than any other park in PA. The Pymatuning Reservoir is the biggest lake in Pa and offers boating, fishing, swimming, camping and other recreational opportunities. If you would like to visit one of Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission hatcheries Pymatuning has one. If you are planing to visit the park during the summer months make sure you plan ahead of time Pymatuning State Park gets more visitors than any other park in Pa.
