Erie Pennsylvania Travel
Whether you like to explore from the ground,
the water or the air you can explore all that Erie,
Pennsylvania has to offer. Lake Erie the smallest of
the five great lakes reaches an average depth of 62
feet, which helps it to heat up in the summer and freeze
over in the winter. The borders of Lake Erie reach Ontario,
Ohio, Pennsylvania,
and New York, and Michigan. Lake Erie is Pennsylvania’s
only Great Lake port. Although Pennsylvania has no oceans,
the beaches that hugs Lake Erie offer thrill seekers
and sun soakers quite a respite from everyday life.
Do you really love to take in the sights?
Erie’s beautiful Bayfront has the perfect spot.
The Bicentennial Tower is 187-feet, complete with two
observations decks. The first deck is 17 feet and the
second one 138 feet. Both decks give spectacular views
of the Presque Isle and the bay as well as Erie’s
historic downtown. The tower was completed in 1995,
commemorating the 200th anniversary of the city. The
Bayfront District is within easy walking distance from
the Erie Maritime Museum
as well as the art
galleries and museums of Discovery Square.
If you prefer non-traditional transportation
explore the bay using the local water-taxi. Even use
the water-taxi to transport you a show or festival at
the Pepsi Amphitheater, be sure to check the event calendar.
Take a ride to Presque Island, Dobbins Landing for year-round
recreational opportunities. In addition, there are also
dinner cruises available on the The Victorian Princess.
The Erie Bayfront is home to a variety
of different activities. Whether you are looking to
shop, eat or do a little sightseeing the Bayfront has
something for you. Currently, the District includes
